US President Donald Trump extended the deadline for the forced sale of TikTok for another 75 days.
Trump announced the verdict several hours after China issued revenge tariffs in response to its mutual tariffs of “The Liberation Day” signalling opposition to the president's tariffs, Telegrafi reports, broadcast Periscope.
My administration has worked hard for an agreement to save TikTok and we have made remarkable progress. The agreement requires more work to ensure that all necessary approvals have been signed, so I am signing an executive order to keep TickTok running and operating for another 75 days”, Trump said.
“We hope to continue working in trust with China, which I understand are not very happy for our reciprocal tariffs”, he added.
This proves that tariffs are the most powerful economic tool and very important to our national security. ”
We don't want TickTok to be stopped. We look forward to working with TikTok and China to reach agreement. Thank you for your attention on this case”, Trump concluded.
