The White House has announced that President Donald Trump's administration is considering the possibility of setting a 245% tariff for imports from China. The move comes after continued tensions between two economic powers and as a result of revenge from China.
In a press release, the White House stressed that in early April, President Trump had set a 10% fee for all countries and had individualised higher tariffs for nations that have large trade deficits with the US. This step was meant to balance the playing field and protect America's national security, Periscope.
However, the White House stressed that for many states, high tariffs have been temporarily banned due to trade discussions, but China has imposed retaliatory measures, now facing the severe 245% tariffs for imports sent to the US. Despite this, the White House has not provided further details about the timetable or configuration of new measures for China.
