Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti is continuing meetings with minority political parties to consult with their representatives regarding the formation of the new government.
Acting Romanian Development Minister Fikrim Damka, from the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo, concluded a meeting with Kurti in the government.
After him, Bosniak MP, leader of the Social Democratic Union party, went to meet with Kurti.
Kurti began consultations with minorities on forming the new government on Wednesday, meeting with incumbent deputy prime minister from the Bosniak community, New Democratic Party chairman (NDS), Emily Rexhepi, incumbent Minister for Communities and Kthim and Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival Chairman Nenad Rassic, as well as Minister of Local Power Management and the chairman of the Egyptian Democratic Party (IRDK), Elbert Krasniqi.
Such meetings at the prime minister's office, Eugen Cakoli, from the coalition of nongovernmental organisations, Democracy in Action, said on Wednesday there is a “a practice that dims the border between the state and the party, and shows much about the way power is conceived”. Such meetings, he said “should be held in party headquarters or neutral environments, and by no means in public offices belonging to all citizens”.
The LVV has received 42.30% of the vote and will have 48 seats in the Kosovo Assembly, according to the final results of the February 9th parliamentary elections, certified last week, meaning that it will need a partner on the part of the opposition to be further in power. The Democratic Party of Kosovo has received 20.95% of the vote (24 MPs), while the Democratic League of Kosovo 18.27% (20 MPs). The coalition of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo with the Initiative and others has received 7.06% of the vote (8 deputies, deputies, 5 AAK, 3 Initiatives.
