Tesla did not speculate that the move was due to the escalation of trade war, reports BBC, broadcast Periscope.
Both models accounted for less than 0.5% of Tesla's shipments, with more than 657,000 vehicles last year.
Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that produces Model 3 and Model Y cars for sale in China and for export to markets like Europe.
Chinese electric car firms, including BYD, are among Tesla's biggest rivals in the EV market. /Periscope/
