The blast, which hit the Port's Shahid Rajaee section, occurred as Iran began a third round of nuclear talks with the United States in Oman, writes. Reuters, broadcast Periscope.
Hossain Zafar, a spokesman for Iran's crisis management organization, seems to blame the explosion for the poor preservation of chemicals in containers in Shahid Rajae.
The blast's “due to the explosion was the chemicals inside the containers”, he told the news agency I LNA of Iran.
“earlier, the General Director of Crisis Management had issued warnings about this port during their visits and had noted the risk potential”, Zafar said.
However, an Iranian government spokesman said that although chemicals had probably caused the explosion, it was still not possible to determine the exact reason.
Iran's official news channels broadcast images of a huge cloud of black and orange smoke rising over the port after the explosion, and a building of offices with broken doors and paper and debris scattered around. /Periscope/
