The U.S. National Weather Service has warned of severe flooding in the coming days.
A series of powerful storms that have hit from Arkansas to Ohio have damaged buildings, flooded roads and railway lines, and caused dozens of tornadoes in recent days, reports Radio Free Europe.
Tennessee has been hit the hardest by extreme weather, and on Saturday, authorities said ten people had died in the western part of this American state.
Two people died because of the flooding in Kentucky, according to the governor of this state, Andy Beshear. He said there was a child among the victims.
Photos published on social networks and local media have shown major damage in all the countries affected by storms, including destroyed homes, fallen wood and damaged power lines.
“Major flooding “expected on Sunday in parts of central and eastern regions, the American National Weather Service said, adding that “people and property are at great risk”.
Two more deaths were recorded in Missouri and one in Indiana as a result of storms.
More than 100,000 people have lost electricity in Arkansas and Tennessee on Sunday morning.
