Scandalous: Switzerland alarms for Kosovo selling poisonous product, institutes silence

Switzerland's Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office has asked Kosovo, either the Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency, to pull out of the market a cream-to-face product because it contains high amounts of marble. This was because a patient had bought facial cream in Kosovo and was poisoned by being forced to seek medical help in Switzerland.

The patient was treated at Cyril University Hospital for this health problem, and this hospital announced the authority of Food Safety and Veterinary Safety to take urgent measures to this product.

In the first letter Perscope provided by Periscope, the hospital is alarmed at facial cream, explaining that the patient has had medical complications due to high merit content, off limits.

We want to inform you about a case of Wednesday poisoning, which relates to the use of a facial cream purchased abroad. In our department, we have treated a patient who after daily use of this cream has developed nephrology medical complications. The marble content on this cream was extremely high, with 380,000 mg/g, well above acceptable values. Initially, the case was reported to Swiss, but it was not followed further, since it was not about a product purchased in Switzerland. Eventually, Swiss colleagues suggested that we contact them. The patient had bought the cream in Kosovo. We have no other details. The hospital where the patient was treated requires that Swiss authorities ask Kosovo to remove the product from the market because it poses a serious threat to users, hoping that people who may be exposed to such a product will be protected.

We have no knowledge of similar cases in Switzerland, but several cases of similar exposure sources have been reported. We would like to report the case to Kosovo authorities, as there is clearly a health risk. Since we don't have the right contacts, we're addressing you and please submit this matter further. We hope that you can help us and protect people who may be exposed to such a health risk”, the hospital letter says.

Following the hospital letter, Switzerland's Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office announced the Food and Veterinary Agency through an official letter, urging them to take measures on facial cream.

The Federal Office for Food and Veterinary Safety has been informed by the Department of clinical pharmacology and toxicology at the University Hospital in Zurich for a health problem involving facial cream that was produced in Kosovo. So we want to inform you to take necessary measures. The patient has bought the cream in Kosovo. We don't know any more details. However, cream can be purchased in the following Facebook connection: Natural cream -Kosovo-Facebook”, says the official Swiss letter Periscope provided.

Kosovo authorities keep the scandal hidden

Kosovo institutions are responsible in cases where a product poses a health risk to inform citizens and the product to leave the market. This has not happened with facial cream that has alarmed Switzerland. The company's site still sells products and is funkyonal. Based on the Food Law  NR. 08/L-120 Article 6, imposes state institutions to inform citizens of the risk of a product, including cosmetics.

Article 6 Danger Communication 1. Risk communication was made by the Agency in time to obtain objective, real, and clear information about Hazard and the danger of food and animal food and reports: 1.1. Government of the Republic of Kosovo; 1.2. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Rural Development; 1.3. Ministry of Health; 1.4. Businesses that operate with food or animal food; 1.5. Consumers, and 1.6. The relevant institutions and the parties of interest”, Says in Law.

This announcement of Kosovo institutions has not yet occurred, despite the fact that the information is already official and has gone to Kosovo authorities.

Periscope has also asked Kosovo Customs whether it has prevented this product from being exported since official information from Switzerland has come, but until the publication of this document we have received no response.

Periscop called the Natural Creme company in the number in their Facebook account, but the same haven't been answered.

We remember that there is no lab in Kosovo that conducts analysis of cosmetic products found in the market. Kosovo citizens in the absence of the laboratory are endangered by uncontrolled products that can be found in markets. /Periscope/
