Kosovo's United Education and Science Union expresses deep concern over the delay in forming institutions released from the February 9th 2025 elections.
In the response of the SBASK, this deliberate impasse, prompted by the lack of political will for a consensus candidate for the Parliament, is said to be hampering the handling of vital issues for teachers and citizens.
The incumbent's “government, which for four years has ignored the legitimate requirements of teachers including the Kolektive Treaty, the Law for the Salaries and Pension Scheme, continues to function unilaterally, excluding workers' representatives from decision-making. Meanwhile, prices of essential products, including milk and bread, have increased to 20%, without any support measure from the government”, said in response.
This union further in response stresses that it considers this to be of double institutional and social responsibility.
“also, blocking institutions by the outgoing prime minister and rejecting political co-operation for crisis resolution, testify to a lack of seriousness and commitment to public interest. The SPASK request is clear: To form legitimate institutions immediately; Relaunch union and institutional dialogue with teachers' representatives; To address our demands urgently and to take measures against price hikes”, it is said further in response.
If this situation continues, SBASK will consider union and citizen response forms in defense of the rights and dignity of teachers and education workers”. /Periscopi/
