Sami Kurteshi on the brink of retirement, there is no right to be renamed a member of the CEC

The representative of Albin Kurti's CEC party, Sami Kurteshi, known for his arrogant conduct in relation to the media, and especially for frequent clashes at the Counting and Results Centre during the last elections, is counting the last few days as a member of this important constitutional institution. Only 12 days left for Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani to name the new names of Central Election Commission members, and on this list it may not be Kurteshi if the first state reads the Labour Law in Kosovo carefully, reports Periscope.
On June 5, 2025, upstate member of the CEC Vetevendosje, Sami Kurteshi, will retire after reaching the age of 65 - a month later. This data on his birthday is published on the CEC page.
The Labour Law in Kosovo, in Article 67, envisions limiting the working relationship, which should be stopped when the employee turns retirement age, aged 65.

According to the Constitution, The CEC is a permanent body, and the work of this institution is constantly organised and not just during elections.
This means that the 11 CEC members appointed by the president of the Republic are not members similar to the members of other state agencies that are founded by the Parliament and that their work is part-time organised.
For several days, President Osmani has launched procedures for appointing new members of the CEC.
Under the election law, Kosovo's president, based on the results that have emerged from the general elections, not later than 30 days after the country's election is issued, urges parliamentary/political groups/subjections to submit CEC membership candidates.
Under the same law, parliamentary/political groups within the seven-day deadline send their proposals, and the president's appointment takes place within five (5) days of sending the proposals.
Kurteshi, in not a few cases, has managed to do bad news because of verbal attacks on media and frequent clashes during the KEC's vote count. /Periscope.
