Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has declared that Sweden and Finland have become legitimate targets for nuclear attacks from Russia, following their NATO membership.
He stressed that these countries, joining a hostile “alation”, have given up their neutrality and become military targets for Russia.
Medvedev stated that, as part of NATO, these countries are automatically targeted by Russian armed forces, including possible nuclear and preventative attacks, writes Reuters.
Finland joined NATO in April 2023, while Sweden in March 2024, extending the alliance's border with Russia for over 1,300km.
At the same time, Russia has begun building new military infrastructure along the border with Finland and formed “Leningrad Military District”.
According to Finnish authorities, Russia has launched hybrid attacks, sending migrants towards the border to destabilise Finland and the European Union. /Periscope/
