On Wednesday, the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission approved the draft report drafted by this institution's rapporteur for Kosovo, Riho Terras.
The report praised Kosovo's progress in the European integration process during 2023 and 2024, as the Eurodeputs called for the immediate removal of the European Union's restrictive measures towards Kosovo, stressing that they are not justified, as Kosovo has already met EU requirements.
The British MP Alicia Kearns is assessing this request as appropriate.
She says that although demand is delayed, it is very welcome.
<x0m> Delayed and extremely welcome news ) the world must return to balance, and especially the EU's approach towards the Balkans, I hope these calls will be taken into account”, Kearns said at X, which has consistently raised the Kosovo issue in the international arena.
The author of the report, Eurodeputet Riho Terras, has stressed that a new step is needed in talks between Kosovo and Serbia.
Kosovo's “future lies in the European family, based on an agenda of reforms, and we will work together to achieve that target”, Terras has said.
We remember that EU measures towards Kosovo were imposed in 2023 as a consequence of the crisis in the north. At the end of his term as EU top diplomat, Josep Borrell, wrote letters to member states proposing the removal of measures against Kosovo.
However, it has been said that the decision belongs to separate states. /Periscopi/
