Albania will host the summit of the European Political Community in Tirana on 16 May, an event Prime Minister Edi Rama named as the <x0th) largest meeting in our history”.
At Luxembourg's joint press conference, following the opening of the second negotiating chapter with the EU, Rama declared:
“With the president of the European Council, we had a broader discussion of the progress on this road, as well as the European Political Community Summit to be held in Tirana. It'll be the biggest meeting in our history and we'll be the best hosts”.
The prime minister added that conversation with the president of the Council was always excellent “”:The president is smart enough and a very attentive person to the Western Balkans. I am happy that he will visit the countries of the region on the eve of the” summit.
Speaking of the performance of negotiations and the pace of opening chapters, Rama stressed the European Commission's role, and especially the Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos:We have to make sure the lady in this room is always happy with us. Otherwise, there is no president, king or emperor saving us from a slap in our face”.
With ironic marks, he ended up emphasising the Albanians' traditional loyalty to “perandorial”:This is the first empire we want to be in. Our sense of loyalty cannot be fulfilled without being part of it. So I'm sure I'm going to have to go to 188x1...The European Political Community Summit is expected to gather the continent's most important leaders in Tirana at a key moment for the integration of the Western Balkans into European structures./Periscopi/
