Pope Francisescu is buried in the Santa Maria Maggior Basilica in Rome, the Vatican said on Saturday.

Over 250,000 believers, religious and political figures lined up at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican on Saturday to pay tribute to the late Pope Francis, who died this week at the age of 88.
The service began in St. Peter's Basilica shortly after 10:00 a.m. local time, lasting just over two hours.
Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, one of the highest figures in the Catholic Church, led the simplified ceremony, in a series of religious rituals and hymns, an emotional sermon and a final farewell to the Pope, who was the first Latin American pope.
Francescu's modest coffin was later transported to the white Papamobili over the Tiber River to be buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggior of Rome, an enlightened basilica located at the top of the highest point in the Italian capital.
