Secretary - General NATO, Mark Rutte, has visited Ukraine's southern city of Odessa, where it declared steadfast “support to Ukraine following a Russian attack on the northern city of Sumy, which left 35 people dead.

Rutte made this statement during a press conference together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stressing that the military alliance will continue to strongly support Kiev, despite recent criticism by former US President Donald Trump, who has pressed charges against Zelensky for the start of the war, follows. Periscope.

“NATO stays with Ukraine,” said Rutte during his speech. “You and I know this has been true all the time. I also know that some have questioned NATO's support over the past two months. But let there be no doubt: our support is steadfast.” Rutte also stressed that Russia is the aggressor and has launched this war, excluding any possibility of doubts about this fact.

During the talks, Zelensky stressed that one of the main topics of discussion was Ukraine's need for strengthening air defence. He stressed the urgency of this need, writing on X (former-Twitter), “absolutely everyone sees the urgency of Ukraine's need for air defence systems and rockets for them.”

Meanwhile, the city of Odessa has been hit by a massive attack of Russian fears at night, which injured three people and caused fires, damaging homes and civil infrastructure. Ukrainian officials said the attack was another violent act by Russia against the civilian population.

The Ukrainian Army reacted by hitting a Russian missile brigade base that had carried out the missile attack on Sumy last Sunday. This attack had caused a second explosion of ammunition, and the full results of the impact are still in the screening phase, according to military reports on the telegram.

World leaders have strongly condemned the attack on Summy, which was Ukraine's deadliest in 2025, and Zelensky called it a <x0 just deliberate terror”. This attack has further added to international tensions and has stressed the need to intensify support for Ukraine from international allies.
