Pristina Chairman Progress Rama has announced that the municipality he leads has made criminal remarks to the Inspectorate for Cultural Heritage inspector, Pacim Zogaj, reports Periscope.
Rama said they initiated Criminal charges for actions contrary to law and public interest.
According to the capital's chairman, Zogaj has mishandled the official position and violated the right to exercise legal means.
Rama said the government is keeping track of all projects in the capital.
“During our government mandate, we have repeatedly sought opportunities of co-operation to work in the interests of Pristina citizens. However, our efforts, in effect, have been hampered by government structures, which for political reasons and narrow interests have blocked the implementation of vital projects for the city, even violating the law!”, the communiques say.
But what projects is Rama referring to?
On March 10th of this year, works began on the construction of “George Bush” Square, which the Pristina municipality is expected to cost nothing less than 18.4m euros.
For this project, Rama had declared that “will be a wonderful transformation for capital”.
A day after the launch of the project, Periscope had reported through its sources that the Cultural Heritage Inspectorate has banned the works in Pristina, because the three objects -- the Grand Hotel, the object of Radio Kosovo and the University “Pristina” -- are in defense of heredity.
Periscop reporting confirmed by Cultural Heritage Inspectorate who claimed the municipality has not submitted this project for approval to their institution.
“Comuna has not submitted this project for approval to our institution, even though it is limited to four monuments. The law clearly stipulates that each project must be approved in advance as an institute, we will do our best to stop these works from”.
The creation of a cathedral square has been part of Rama's governing programme of progress, which has stated several times that this extension is only the first part, since the plan is to extend the square to the second stage of the Great Post, which is then linked to the mosque in Dardani, which is under construction, until it gradually continues to the circle with a flag on the Upia.
The creation of the square at the cathedral was also mentioned during former chairmanship, Shpend Ahmeti,
In November 2024, the Pristina municipality had started construction work “Sululd Urban-Arber-The Palace of Youth”
But without taking 24 hours to launch the works, the Pristina municipality has faced the first obstacles from the state.
Institute for Protection of Monuments It claims that part of the parcel in this area is theirs and that the municipality has no permission for exploitation.
The Pristina municipality had not stopped the work in Arberi's section, while the work has been suspended on the across track and on the road.
The Institute for Protection of Monuments has said there is no favour on their part for the project.
Reported that the recommendation for halting the works has been given by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
This project amounts to 6.5m euros and is expected to complete in the 180-day working period./ P ERISCOPI/
