This symbolic act has also been associated with a rally of activists below the ikonic symbol of Paris, who wore banners with the words “Pace” and “Salaam”, demanding a halt to violence and support for the Palestinian people.
The Eiffel Tower lighting project with the message of peace represents a powerful expression of international solidarity and a call for global awareness of the conflict taking thousands of innocent lives.
Since October 7th 2023, according to international reports, over 51 thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children, have lost their lives as a result of the Israeli Army offensive in Gaza.
In November last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, both charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice, which is one of the most serious cases ever considered in the institution.
