French President Emmanuel Macron is addressing a meeting with business leaders who, on the central theme, have French economy protection from the new US President Donald Trump's tariffs, The Guardian reported on Thursday.
Macron has opened the meeting calling US President's decisions as “brutal and groundless”, while expressing concern about the impact of tariffs on France and beyond, follows Periscope.
He has signalled that there will be responses to this move.
American President Donald Trump has announced on Wednesday the new tariffs to US business partners, during a speech given in the White House's external environments, in what he described as the “liberation day” for the US by the dependence on foreign goods.
Under the speech, Trump has presented a set of mutual tariffs for almost every business partner, with a score of 10 percent for Great Britain, 20% for the European Union, 34% for China and for many other countries around the world.
French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou and several other ministers are participating.
