US and Ukrainian leaders spoke for about 15 minutes within St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, at a meeting that Zelensky described as potentially historic.
The White House also hailed the meeting as highly productive, while world leaders try to find a way to end the war in Ukraine, which has been going on for more than three years, Telegrafi notes.

Images from the meeting show Trump, in a blue suit, and Zelensky, with a black shirt and pants, involved in an intensive conversation while sitting face to face with each other, both bent forward on the edge of their chairs.
Later, two world leaders joined the Sir Keir Starmer of Great Britain and Emmanuel Macron of France, who warmly embraced Zelensky and laid their hand on the shoulder of the Ukrainian president.
During a bilateral meeting, hastily organised on the eve of Pope Francisescu's funeral, Trump has reportedly offered Zelensky security, according to a <x0m> lip-reading”.
Although there is only a short meeting clip, “lip reader” Nicola Hickling has discovered that Zelensky told Trump: I'd like you to do this, but not like that.
Trump reportedly later replied: It's a very interesting strategy, you have security.
Analysing the important meeting, Mrs. Hickleling also suggested there was a cold exchange between Trump and Macron when the French president arrived while the two chairs for the US and Ukraine presidents were being deployed.
Macron can be seen warmly embracing Zelensky before Trump draws the French president towards himself, writes Foreign mediaHe's following in on Telegrafie.
According to Hickling, Trump told Macro, “Easy, let me bring...” before they were removed from the camera view.
Trump then warns the French president: “... I want you to do me a favor, you shouldn't be here”
This happened between the first face-to-face meeting of Trump and Zelensky since the pair crashed into the White House in February, when the American president told his Ukrainian counterpart “you don't have letters”.
Trump repeated the same message earlier this week, blaming Ukraine earlier for the start of the war and accusing Zelensky of obstructing peace negotiations.
However, the White House insisted that the last meeting was “very productive”, while Zelensky described it as highly symbolic “” and a meeting that could be important “if we can achieve joint results”.
Meanwhile, a photo of the meeting was posted by Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andri Syhbika, who wrote to X: “No words are needed to describe the importance of this historic meeting. Two leaders work for peace in St. Peter's Basilica”.
Zelensky also said that the meeting, which took place shortly before the Pope's funeral, had “potential to become historic”.
Next, Trump and Zelensky descended the steps of the basilica, where the Ukrainian leader was met with great applause from the crowd before taking their seats in the first row.
They sat at a short distance from each other, with Macron and other world leaders sitting among them.

And after a positive meeting with Zelensky, Trump soon turned against Vladimir Putin, questioning his willingness to end the war in Ukraine.
The American president said he feared Putin was pushing him to action, as Moscow continued to launch missiles on Kiev earlier this week.
Acceleration of Mr. Trump's stance against Putin will boost hopes in Kiev for a peace deal that does not include issuing land from Ukraine to Russia.
In recent weeks, Trump has proposed a plan in which the United States will officially recognise the Crime that Putin has occupied since 2014 as Russian.
We remember Trump threatening that the United States will withdraw from peace talks if Zelensky does not accept the agreement. /Periscope
