The United States customs have begun to collect the 10 per cent fee imposed by President Donald Trump, to all imports of many states, including from Kosovo.
Meanwhile, higher tariffs for goods from 57 biggest US trade partners will start to be implemented next week, broadcast Periscope.
The decision on the initial basic fee of 10 percent began to be implemented at US ports, airports and customs depots at 12:01am (06 o'clock, local time in Kosovo).
Kosovo is among the countries that have been imposed on the base fee of 10 per cent for imports from Trump on April 2nd.
Representatives of economic efforts have warned that this fee will have a major impact on Kosovo exporters, calling on the Government of Kosovo to lift its 10 per cent fee for goods from the US and assist Kosovo businesses affected by Trump's decision.
This is one of the biggest commercial actions in our lives”, said Kelly Ann Shaw, a commercial lawyer at Hogan Lovells and former business adviser at the White House during Trump's first term.
Shaw said she expects tariffs to evolve over time, while countries will try to negotiate lower rates.

Trump's announcement of the introduction of tariffs to imports from all countries in the world on April 2nd shocked global stock markets.
Meanwhile, the highest reciprocal tariffs of the Trump, ranging from 11 to 50 per cent, will take effect Wednesday. Imports from the European Union will be hit with a 20 per cent fee, while Chinese goods at a 34 per cent fee, bringing total to 54 per cent the new fee for China.
Canada and Mexico have been excluded from Trump's latest tariffs, as they are still subject to a 25 per cent fee, which was imposed over the US phentanyl crisis.
Trump has exempted from new tariffs goods that are subject to specific tariffs of 25 per cent for national security reasons. These include steel and aluminum, cars, trucks, and auto parts.
The US administration also published a list of over 1,000 categories of products that have been excluded from new tariffs. These include crude oil, oil products and other energy imports, pharmaceutical drugs, uranium, titanium, timber, semis, and copper.
