Kosovo's outgoing prime minister said Pope Francescu was “a bold voice for international peace and justice, and a steadfast advocate of the poor and marginalised in all societies”, while recalling a meeting with him, who said that the “remains one of the most significant moments” for him as prime minister.
I was shocked today by the news of the separation from the life of His Holiness, Pope Francis. As the spiritual leader of 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide, it was a bold voice for international peace and justice, and a steadfast advocate of the poor and marginalized in all societies. As the first non-European pope in more than 1200 years, it marked a turning point in Church history”, Kurti wrote in a Facebook post.
Kurti recalled his meeting with Pope in 2023, while showing that he asked about Kosovo.
My “meeting with the Pope on June 22, 2023, during which we reaffirmed our common commitment to strengthening co-operation between the Vatican and the Republic of Kosovo remains one of the most significant moments during my time as prime minister so far. He asked questions about Kosovo, youth and children, and spoke of peace with love and peoples with compassion”, Kurti wrote.
He, as he wrote, was a meeting that Kurt said that “will always remember with caution and gratitude”.
May Pope Francisco rest in peace. Let his heritage of goodness, humility, and moral courage continue to inspire and illuminate the world for generations that come to”.
