Regional waste company “Pristina” has reacted since the Pristina Community's call in January this year for the bills to be paid in the municipality, not the company, by 30 April 2025 debt is expected to reach 2.2m euros.
According to the company, despite their handling cleanup and management of waste, the municipality has not paid a cent since January 01th 2025, creating a burden of operational work and financial difficulties for the company.
KRM “Pristina” has said that this situation has also brought serious difficulties in covering salaries for workers, spending on waste disposal, and in supplying derivatives that are necessary for the functioning of the fleet, which are the main pillars of the company's daily operation.
They have announced that on May 1st, 2025, they are at risk of closing the doors of the Deponia for depositing waste for which without the permission of the KR “Cleaning” there will be no opportunity to provide service to citizens.
“Public calls from the municipality to citizens for non-paid waste bill on The ChM “Cleaning” -- and also promoted by the lack of institutional support of the municipality -- is further exacerbating the financial situation and could lead to the disruption of essential services in the capital, seriously risking public health and the environment as a result of no waste collection. Calls for no pay even conflict with the regulation for change and completion of waste management regulation No.01-030/01-227581-23 of the date 01.12.2023 received from the Capital's Assembly, at the collection held by 05.12.2024 (protopped by No.01-030/011604/24 date 06.12.2024<3>, it wrote. KRM Pristina.
They have also said they may be obliged to send unpaid debt cases for execution to the private owner./Periscopi/
