By 2021, Kosovo had exported 131m euros of goods to the US. Most of them were mattresses, placards, and pillows. Last year, that figure dropped to about 39m euros. Now, exports have been difficult because of the ten percent fee set by the United States.
On April 2nd, United States President Donald Trump announced that fees of imported goods would be placed from all parts of the world.
Kosovo is worth a basic ten percent fee, while to some countries in the Western Balkan region, even higher tariffs such as “reciprocity measures” were imposed, REL reports Periscope.

The tariffs that will take effect in the coming days are set in order to improve the US economy. But the decision has been criticised as consumers and businesses may face price hikes for vehicles, clothes and other goods.
For example, American citizens, who previously bought products exported from Kosovo, can now face higher prices, as companies importing goods from Kosovo will have to pay the fee of ten percent.
What goods in Kosovo have been sold in the United States? Data shows that the most exported products are mattresses, placards, pillows, and dresses.

In the first quarter of this year alone, Kosovo exported clothing primarily dresses worth 3.2m euros.
More than ten per cent basic tariffs have been attached to countries with which the US has trade deficits, that is, with countries from which the US imports more than it exports.
In the case of Kosovo, US import has almost always been greater than export to the US.
It was only between 2021 and 2023 that this had changed.
For most of the last decade, US exports have been very small compared to the value of total exports from Kosovo.
Most of the exports to the U.S. had occurred in 2022. That year, Kosovo exported goods worth 131.1m euros, or 15.1 per cent of total exports.

Kosovo also has a fee of 10 per cent in US imported goods. Kosovo authorities apply this fee to all countries with which they do not have free trade agreements.
In addition, Kosovo is also paid the State Value Tax (TVSH), worth 8 per cent for essential goods, while for other goods of 18 per cent. /Radio Free Europe
