The Basel-Landschaft criminal court in Muttenz has approved partially conditional sentences Thursday for three men from Kosovo.
At the Mitanz criminal justice centre three men, aged 43, 47 and 48, from Kosovo received approval for their “accord with the Public Prosecutor's Office Basel-Landschaft on Thursday.
They had lived in a hut in France. Swiss and French police co-operation eventually led to their arrest. However, a fourth member of the group managed to escape and has not yet been caught, writes the newspaper Arigauer Zeitung. In France the three people were immediately sentenced to the creation of a criminal organization and extradited to Switzerland after the punishment.
Battuta and extenuating atmosphere in the courtroom: “Leave it with us even for a time”
On Monday, the three-judge chamber of the Basel-Landschaft Criminal Court approved the negotiated sentence for theft committed by gangs and “commercial years-longing” and serious property damage: People received partially conditional sentences from 34 to 36 months. In all, they must serve from 16 to 18 months each. One of the involved was extradited to Switzerland in November 2023 and has now suffered the sentence; therefore he was released Thursday.
“Leave him with us even for a while,” joked the other two indictees in court.
However, “released” means that the Migration Office takes over and escorts him to the airport, where they board him on a plane to Pristina. All convicts have been barred from entering Switzerland for seven years, and the court made it clear that the agreement will be adopted only if the ban applies to the entire Schengen area.
“We accept any decision,” commented on the three men laughing.
Despite all the lines they made, they were evidently happy Thursday that everything was already over. One of them pointed out that his sentence of nearly three years in France had been enough - he no longer wanted to experience such a thing.
Court: Their sheep is not comparable to the explosion of ATMs
Normally, in the cut procedure, courts can only approve or refuse agreement, but smaller changes are common in practice. If the request is refused, there is danger of regular procedures involving much more efforts for the public prosecutor and the court.
What was also crucial was that violence was not used against people during theft.
These cases are not comparable to the very dangerous explosions at ATM,” said Gringe.
The already convicted man's clothing reached some 440,000 francs. Banks suffered material damage that totaled nearly half a million francs. /Periscope/
