KFOR Commander: The security situation in Kosovo fragile because of insufficient commitment to dialogue

During his presentation, General Bardonini highlighted the achievements of the last six months since KFOR's October 2017 command was taken.
He stressed the importance of a <x0 proactive operational approach to ensure that KFOR continues to meet current challenges and be prepared for the possible ones in the future”.
In his assessment of the current situation, he underlined that the <x0 security situation remains fragile due to several factors, including continued tensions in the region and the lack of sufficient commitment on the part of Belgrade and Pristina for normalising their” relations.
In this context, it re-focused KFOR's full support for the EU facilitated dialogue as a framework to reach a sustainable solution that will bring benefits to all communities”.
General Bardonini also reiterated KFOR's steadfast dedication to a safe and stable environment for all citizens and communities in Kosovo, as well as to ensure freedom of movement, in line with the long term mandate of the United Nations”.
NATO Military Committee Chairman Admiral Giuspe Cavo Dragone praised Bardon's presentation, expressing gratitude for his leadership.
“He praised his leadership and KFOR's sustainable achievements” and stressed that KFOR's “work remains essential for consolidating long-term security in Kosovo and maintaining regional stability”. /Periscopi/
