KEK launches works to modernise Kosovo B thermal power plant, investment worth 56.5m euros

Work has begun to modernise the B2 unit, this investment of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK).

“For the first time has begun overhauling and modernisation at KEK's existing Termocentrals and is becoming an increase in capacity for the entity, an additional annual output of over 600 GWh, as well as a safer and more efficient operation of TC Kosova B units. The implementation of rehabilitation projects is based on the feasibility study for TC “Kosovo B”. This rehabilitation will contribute to meeting environmental requirements, reducing air pollution and ensuring compliance with European Union directive standards (BE) for dust and gas emissions” is said in the report.

According to Rizvanolli, when all works for the rehabilitation of the thermocentral plant “Kosovos B” are completed, its <x2-life span will increase for another 20 years, pollution from dust and nitrogen dioxide will be reduced by 60%, while capital remonts will need to take place once in 10 years, instead of five years of”

“This means that supply safety will be significantly improved for the next 20 years, import will be low for at least 23m euros, meanwhile, exports will increase for at least 20m per year”, it added.
