KDI requires the President's intervention: Parliament hearings have become meaningless without political agreement

According to KDI, the lack of a serious political agreement and the repetition of the same candidacy for the post of Speaker of the Parliament has turned this constitutional process into an empty formalisation.
The institute stresses that in the current circumstances, the problem is no longer technical, but deeply political, and requires address on that level.
In this context, KDI calls on the president of the Republic to take concrete steps by inviting leaders of parliamentary political parties to a joint meeting to discuss possible solutions to overcoming the institutional blockade.
According to the Constitution, the president has the responsibility to ensure the constitutional functioning of institutions. In a situation where the highest representative institution is paralyzed, its commitment is not only justified, but necessary”, the KDI response concludes.
