There is no increase in the number of employees in the country. Recent statistics show that the unemployment rate has not moved at all during 2023-2024.
Recent data published in the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) reportedly remains the same (10.7%) rate in Kosovo at TM2 2024, compared to TM2 2023.
About two-thirds of the population in Kosovo (1 074 704) are working age populations (85 960 less than in the same period of the year).
Active persons were 461 675 (8 862 less than the same period of the year).
Iactive persons were 613269 (87 536 less than the same period in the preceding year).
Those employed were 412 482 (7 668 less than in the same period of the year).
The unemployed persons were 49 194 (1 193 less than in the same period of the year).
The percentage of men employed was 55.9% (2.8% higher than in the same period of the year). The female employment percentage was 20.8% (1.2% higher than in the same period of the year).
The employment rate was 38,4% (2.5% higher than in the same period of the year).
The unemployment rate was 10.7%, identical as in the same period of the year before.
In young people (15-24), the unemployment rate was 21.2% (5.0% higher than in the same period of the year).
Inactivity scale still remains high
Non-activity rates continue to remain quite high (57.0 %), but there is a drop in percentage (-2.8%), compared to the same period in the preceding year.
Women's inactivity rate was very pronounced (75.0%), compared to men (39.1%).
Trade, construction, and education lead with employment
Economic sectors that lead by employment continue to be: trade by 20.2%, construction 11.9%, production by 11.4%, education by 9.2%, public administration and defence by 7.9%, etc.
Women were mostly employed in the trade, education and health care sectors with 51.2% of them. While, the males were mainly employed in the trade, construction and production sectors by 47.5%./Periscopi/
