The oppression of different opinions, the escalation of armed conflicts, insufficient efforts to address climate collapse, as well as the growing worldwide response against the rights of migrants, refugees, women, girls and LGBTI persons, are issues that have been raised in the international organisation's annual human rights report, Amnesty International (AI), published on April 29th.

“Secila on these issues faces further deterioration in a turbulent year like 2025, unless a global turnover is achieved”, AI said.

Amnesty International's annual report showing how much human rights are being respected around the world cited the disapproval of the Law for Asisting Assistance and Reproductive Health (IVF) and the Civil Code in the Assembly of Kosovo.

The IVF approach continued only to be available in private clinics, following another failed attempt at parliament to pass the law on reproductive health that would enable IVF service in public hospitals”, says AI's annual report.

It also says that the debate in Parliament has been followed by “dezinforms and hate speech against single women from some deputies”.

Radio Free Europe had reported to MPs who had rejected this law, being called into their faith that it protects “family as institution” and that the IVF should be the option only for married heterosexual couples.

The same deputies have, along with some others, opposed the transition of the Civil Code to the Kosovo Assembly, which has not yet been brought to the Assembly for approval since 2022.

The MPs' differences were linked to the article that would enable the drafting of a special law through which the registration of “civil co-ordination” would be allowed among same-gender persons.

In addition to the failure of the Civil Code transition, Amnesty International, in the annual report, stressed that survivors of domestic violence belonging to the LGBTI+ (esbyty, gay, bisexual, transgenerative, interdirector, etc) “still do not have access to specialised <x1).

REL has also reported on this problem in the past, which over the years has forced survivors of domestic violence belonging to this community to leave Kosovo to move to Tirana, Albania.

The Kosovo part of this report also mentions failure to try Kosovo to join the Council of Europe, attempts to investigate and try war crimes cases, adopt the Law for Independent Media Commission, which, however, was abolished last week by the Constitutional Court, and agreement with Denmark on the housing of prisoners in Kosovo.
