Hot for rising electricity prices: Sorry Kosovo has effective government to address such decisions with maximum caution

Democratic League of Kosovo MP Avdullah Hoti has said today that there is no economic reason to increase electricity tariffs in Kosovo. Hoti in a Facebook post writes that energy markets have been stable and are expected to remain such, as there is unlikely to be [...]
Hoti in a Facebook post writes that energy markets have been stable and are expected to remain such, as there is unlikely to be changes in demand or energy supply.
“. . This has been following major progress in the energy transition of many EU countries to be independent of Russian gas, which means that energy bids have been stabilised and there is much greater security of supply. On the other hand, major investments have been made in many countries in energy efficiency, which at least investments have made annual energy demand growth more moderate. As a result, stability in supply and energy demand is expected to hold relatively constant energy prices”, says Hoti, Periscope.
According to him, there is no logic that year after year electricity companies in Kosovo are allowed to accept losses, amounting to tens of millions of euros, and to be included in tariffs paid by consumers.
“Every year the net investment plan is approved, whose cost is estimated on consumer fees. It is natural, therefore, that the estimated energy losses on the network are reduced year after year, not the same, less to increase. It is also known that consumer payments on energy consumption are increasingly regular, which should lead to reduced losses calculated and reflected in tariffs.
It is a pity that today Kosovo has no effective Government to deal with professionally and carefully with such decisions affecting the standard of life of any family”, the MP writes.
