Prien, 60, currently serves as Schleswig-Holstein's minister of education and co-chairman of the Christian Democrat Union National Board (CDU). It also heads the Jewish Party Forum, the ILVT news reports broadcast Periscopi.
Born in the Netherlands by Holocaust survivors, Prien began discussing her Jewish background only in 2016. Although she is not a secular Hebrew, her Jewish background comes from her grandparents she recognizes the profound impact of her family's history on her life. My mother was just afraid. For him, we lived in the land of the perpetrators. And so it was clear that we wouldn't talk about it,” she said.
Prien will serve under future Chancellor Friedrich Merz, a prominent ally of Israel. Its appointment is seen as an important step in Germany's ongoing efforts to confront its past and promote inclusion.
