The meeting at NATO headquarters was the last in a series of meetings of “volunteer coalition” of predominantly European nations, led by Britain and France, on how they can work to maintain peace if the US brokers fighting ban, writes Reuters Transmitt Periscope.
“S together we are growing as one, ready to secure Ukraine's future after any peace deal,” said British Defence Secretary John Healey, at the start of the meeting.
Many top European officials estimate that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in stopping his invasion, but they are keen to show US President Donald Trump that they are ready to play their role if his approach to Moscow produces results.
Trump has made it clear that he expects Europeans to secure any peace that could result from his administration's talks. Ukraine has said it is ready to accept a ceasefire, while Russia has said it needs answers to many questions before deciding.
