This European decision came after US President Donald Trump yesterday, announced that the US has imposed a 90-day suspension of tariffs, except for China.
During these 90 days, all states will have a fee of 10 %.
We took into account President Trump's announcement. We want to give negotiations a chance. As we finalise the adoption of EU countermeasures that saw strong support from our member states, we will put them on pause for 90 days”, Von Der Leyen has declared.
“If the negotiations are not satisfactory, our counteractions will begin”, she added, saying the work on counter-steps continues.
