The attack, which took place Sunday, killed at least 34 people and injured more than 100 others, has shocked the international community and stressed the need for further support for Ukraine.
EU leaders will discuss ways to intensify aid to Ukraine in its bid to protect themselves from Russian aggression.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the attack as a display of “open disregard for human lives, international law and diplomatic efforts”, sharply condemning Russian actions.
Likewise, future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz accused Russia of “grave war crimes”, calling the attack an act “perfid” and “disgusting”, follows Periscope.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, meanwhile, said the attack was a Russian <x0-version of a” ceasefire, stressing that this act of violence reflected Moscow's aggressive intentions. Kaya Kallas, the EU's top diplomat, stressed that this attack served as a reminder of the importance of supporting Ukraine in trying to exert further pressure on Russia, as Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected any possibility of ceasefire.
In this context, Poland's Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called the attack “mock response” from Russia to American President Donald Trump's peace effort, demanding a stronger response from the US administration.
In the United States, however, it seems that there is no clear consensus. US President Donald Trump named the attack a terrible “”, but stressed it was a “misspelled” and accused President Joe Biden of failing to tackle the crisis.
In a later interview, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concern that the <x0-narrats Russian” were gaining ground in the US, focusing on the criticism of some American officials who, according to him, were justifying Putin's actions.
