We are adding our support to the Palestinian people. 1.6 billion euros by 2027 will help stabilise the West Coast and Gaza Belt”, EU Chief Diplomat Kaya Kallas said in X.
It assured that the EU will invest in infrastructure, humanitarian aid and support for refugees. “We are a long-term partner for the Palestinian Authority”, Kallas added.
The Palestinian authority manages the occupied West Coast, with Western officials suggesting it should take responsibility for the Gaza Strip after the Israeli War, which has claimed nearly 51,000 lives since October 2023, follows Periscope.
The EU in a statement said the funding is meant for support of services for the Palestinian people, for the recovery and stabilisation of the West Coast and the Gaza Belt and for the private sector in Palestine.
The bloc will also launch a “Donors' platform for Palestine” for the Palestinian Authority to implement its reform agenda.
