The event took place on April 1st as Erdogan was returning from one night to her hometown of Giresun.
The fatal night, Erdogan reportedly has been out with friends. After returning home, police officers stopped him for a search, which, according to CNN Turk, revealed that she had 1.70 mg/100 ml of alcohol in the blood, when the border in Turkey is 0.5 mg/100 ml.
According to Turkish reports, Erdogan, fearing he would get into trouble with the law, abandoned her car and ran towards a bridge. There, according to information, she has lost her balance and has fallen from a height of about 50 feet [15 m] onto a six - lane highway, followed by her Periscope.
Turkish media report that after falling off the bridge, it was hit by a passing car. Despite efforts by rescue teams that have rapidly moved to the area, the 27-year-old has not been able to survive.
Her family, however, claims everything was an accident.
“Do not trust false news and information about the death of our beloved daughter, sister and friend Guler Erdogan. Our sister lost her life because of an accident”, A statement on the 27-year-old Facebook page is reported. (A2 Television)
