April “14 marks the Memorial Day of Sex Violence Survivors during the last war in Kosovo. 20,000 women and girls are victims of sexual violence during the war. For men and boys, the exact number is unknown, but it is believed that hundreds have been victims of sexual violence. Because of even greater stigmatization, shame and fear, many have never reported their experience. Among the thousands of silent voices, a man has found the courage to speak. In a society where men rarely feel safe to show their deepest wounds, he broke the silence not only for himself but for all who cannot speak yet. This man is the most valuable man in my life, Dad. Dad's story is not alone. War does not know the rules, and the consequences are always too great, but living and healing are far greater than the consequences! May today be a reminder that we have survived and that we are never alone. Father, the light of my eyes, thank you for never giving up and finding strength to hold my hand in this cruel world. I'm so proud of you! I love you forever! ”
