ZRRE said in an answer to the Express Journal, tsunami Periscope that the new tariffs will be implemented from June 1st across the territory, except for the northern part.
There the Serbian company Elektrosever has taken over consumer supply and billing, under an agreement reached within Kosovo-Serbia dialogue in 2022.
The ZRRE says Elektroseverer has license for this and that Kosovo regulator “does not specify a” tariff for them.
“Bord of the Energy Regulatory Office by 1604.2025 has approved tariffs for the Universal Service provider (FSHU), confirming the legal provisions set out in the Law for Energy Rule. Z THREE meets the Law's legal provisions for Energy Regulatory and Electricity Law has given the universal service obligation to K supplier ESCO for the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo. Also, it should be noted that the electronic energy supplier Elektrosever has license from Z. THREE for four municipalities north of Kosovo. This is defined at 5th of the Energy Agreement. So ZRRE does not specify the retail electricity fee for the Elektrosever” supplier, the ZRE response reported.
Elektroseverer must apply the tariffs defined only for the transmission and distribution network.
“Ven to suggest that tariffs for use of the transmission network and distribution network should be applied by all registered electricity suppliers in Kosovo, including the Elektrosever”, says Z. RRE.
New electricity tariffs, which, as usual, enter into force every April 1st, will be implemented this year with little delay due to citizens' complaints and reactions.
Lack of sufficient production by the Kosovo Energy Corporation and the need for import of electricity at more expensive prices in international stock exchanges are the two main reasons that have been cited by the ERE for the price of electricity.
