UN criticises Serbia for rejecting extradition of Kosovo suspects

The UN Committee on Obsessible Developments (CED) has published its findings for five states, including Serbia, following the review that took place during the last session. The findings for each state contain key recommendations and concerns regarding the implementation of the International Convention on the Protection of All Persons from the Force outcome, as well as positive aspects noted during the monitoring.
As for Serbia, the Committee has invited this state to make substantial changes in legislation and access to justice.
The committee recommended our neighbouring country that “criminalise forced disappearance as an autonomous act, review the sentences and statutes of restrictions to reflect its weight and expand the definitions of victims to ensure full involvement and compensation for all individuals affected”.
The committee was also concerned about Serbia's refusal to extradite citizens sought by the Kosovo judicial authorities and the ranking of key military and police archives, preventing investigations”.
