The company “Noa”, with two employees selling electricity to the country during Kurti Government, earned millions, while citizens weighed their fees

The current has been expensive several times in Kosovo, while “NOA Energy Trade”, registered on 29 laughing 2021, has managed to become one of the largest companies in the country over the years.

It trades electricity and is the company from which Kosovo imports about 90% of the current, Periscope.

This company, which in the first year registered 54m euros in annual circulation, 142m euros in the following year and 161 euros in the third year, is selling the country electricity 22.5% more expensive than on the stock market.

“Economic Bulletin” writes today that during September 2024, a megavat/h of electricity coming through the company “Noa Energy Trade” has cost KESCO an average of 345.33 euros by 225% more than the monthly average on the HUPX Stock Exchange, where the price of a megavati in the same month was 106.11 euros.

Out of this company, Kosovo, on average, has paid 79.87% more expensive electricity than it was on the HUPX Stock Exchange.

Average annual price for a megawatt/hour according to the stock market HUPX in 2024 was 100.81 euros, approximately as much as was forecast by the Energy Regulatory Office (97.79 euros per megava/h). But the average price of a megavati KESCO cost 181.34 euros.

Of 68.9m euros in electricity, more than 62m euros were imported by the Kosovar Company for Electricity Supply (KESCO) in 2024, over 62m euros went solely through the company “NOA Energy Trade”

After “NOA Energy Trade”, energy company “GEN” comes second on the importers' list, with 6.2m euros. From the branch of this company in Belgrade, millions of euros have been transferred to a company founded by Martin Berishaj, Kosovo's ambassador to Croatia, which the Government would later receive in defence.

K ESCO, the company responsible for providing electricity to Kosovo citizens, and the Energy Regulatory Office, which usually approves on annual grounds already expensive electricity, have never clarified the issue of electricity import from “NOA Energy Trade”

Lack of sufficient production by the Kosovo Energy Corporation and the need for import of electricity at more expensive prices in international stock exchanges are the two main reasons that have been cited by the ERE for the price of electricity this year for 16.1% compared to last year.

But during 2024, Kosovo has imported electricity at staggering prices -- 79.87% more expensive than on the stock market. And suddenly, the cost of transporting the current increased dramatically by 907% compared to 2023. Out of about 1m euros in 2023, 10m euros were spent for the transport of electricity in the following year.

“NOA Energy Trade” has only two registered workers, according to the Kosovo Tax Administration.

Currents more expensive each year for citizens, but not for Serbs in the north

The Energy Regulatory Office on 16 April approved the price of electricity for 16.1% compared to last year, despite citizens' protests.

New electricity tariffs will be implemented from June 1st across the country, except north, the Serb-populated majority,

The Serbian company Elektrosever has taken over the supply and billing of consumers there, under an agreement reached within Kosovo-Serbia dialogue in 2022. And the ZRRE said that “does not specify the retail electricity fee for the Elektrosever” supplier.

New electricity tariffs in Kosovo, which, as the habit has become, enter into force every April 1st, will be implemented this year with little delay due to citizens' complaints and reactions.

Business representatives have warned that they will be forced to expensive products and services, including those basics such as flour, bread, milk and oil because of this decision. /express
