Police communications badly expose Interior Minister Jelal Svechla.
Svecla, in an effort not only to take credit for apprehending Serbs suspected of connection with Serbian intelligence but also to present the arrests as a major success of the MPB's work, said it was about a joint “operation of our security organs”.
He said the action started on Saturday with the ban of four Serbian elites in Gjakova, though according to Gjakova Police, the first Serb group fell on the radar and then were verified.
“in a joint operation carried out by our security organs on the date of 05.04.2025 and 06.04.2025, a total of 16 people, divided into four Kraguyevci license plates. The detention facility was combined, with four of them becoming active officers of Serbia's” security services, Svechla said in a response to social networks Sunday.
The second group of Serbs suspected of links to Serbian intelligence were arrested on Sunday as they were being accommodated at Bogoslav's Orthodox seminar in central Prizren.
The second group, with 12 persons, has been detained in Prizren while being accommodated at the Orthodox Seminary of Bogoslavia. Even in this group were two active officers of Serbian security services”, Minister Svechla said on Sunday.
According to Svecla, one of the suspects has close family ties with Nemanja Radivojevich, a member of Banjska's terrorist group.
Svechla warned that the shelter of suspects at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in downtown Prizren could indicate an effort to exploit religious institutions for camouflage of Serbian agents.
