“We call on the US to take a major step to correct its mistakes, completely cancel the wrong practice of reciprocal étariffs and return to the right path of mutual respect”, a Trade Ministry spokesman said in a statement, follow Periscope.
A report late Friday by the US Customs and Border Protection Office said intelligent phones, laptops, memory chips and other products would be excluded from the global tariffs President Donald Trump issued this month.
Beijing's Trade Ministry said the exceptions were a small “step from Washington and China was “weighing the impact” of the decision.
This came after Chinese revenge fees of 125 per cent for American goods went into effect on Saturday.
The exceptions will benefit American technology companies such as Nvivia and Dell, as well as Apple, who produces iPhones and other premium products in China.
Most Chinese goods still face a total of 145 per cent tax after the country remained out of a 90-day tariff suspension.
