Officers at the scene said a bag containing an explosive device was located near the Hellenic Train building in Avenue Syngrou.
Otherwise, the explosion comes in the midst of the public's widespread anger over the 2023 Tempi rail disaster, Greece's worst in which 57 people were killed and dozens of others were injured when a freight train and a passenger train heading in opposite directions were accidentally introduced to the same track.
Criticals for dealing with that government crash have increased over the past few weeks in the continuation of the second anniversary of the disaster, which killed mostly young people who had returned to university classes after a public holiday.
