In his address to the community, Berisha said Albanian immigrants in Italy represent real sacrifice and dedication for Albania, adding that the Democratic Party shares the same values with the diaspora.
Your own history is a source of inspiration. You are Albanians of great sacrifice, suffering from communist dictatorship, but also of honesty and success in exile. Viva Italy!” Berisha declared, thanking the Italian people for their hospitality to Albanians.
During his speech, he addressed immigrants with a call for support in the May 11th elections, stressing that the DP has been reinvigorated to protect democracy and national interest.
There were three years of bitter fighting against us to eliminate the opposition, but as the diaspora that won every challenge, we too were re-broken from the ashes. We have a sacred mission: to save Albania from the second dictatorship,” Berisha said, citing current governance as a threat to pluralism.
The meeting in Brescia is part of his tour with Albanian immigrants in Italy, under the campaign for the upcoming elections.
