US Senator Chuck Grasley has commented on the visit of the president of the BiH Republika Srpska unit, Milorad Dodik, to Russia after the country's Court issued an arrest warrant for him.
Grassley compared Dodik to former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
“Like Syria Assad, possible dictator Dodik fled to Russia for safe haven. He will face justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina for his failed attempt to destroy the country and prevent integration into Europe”, Grasley wrote on X.
Senator Grasley, along with Senator Jeanne Shaheen, is leading a Congress initiative that requires an urgent diplomatic intervention to halt unconstitutional actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This initiative, strongly supported by BiH United and partner organisations, highlights the urgency of protecting Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereignty.
Dodik, for whom an international arrest warrant was issued by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, first travelled to Israel last week in an effort to gain support from Benjamin Netanyah.
After the visit to Israel failed to succeed as planned, he returned to Belgrade. For several days, his whereabouts were unknown until Monday evening, when he posted to X that he was in Moscow.
In Moscow, Dodik has even announced meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 1st.
After the meeting, the RS leader wrote on X that Putin told him Russia would contribute to the ban on the work of international institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the work of High Representative Christian Schmidt.
“Russia is the guarantor of the peace agreement, and Putin said that at the meeting. He added that, in this context, Russia will contribute to the conclusion and ban of the work of international institutions, separately of the false High Representative, or, as it refers to, the non-legitimation representatives”, Dodik said.
On March 27th, the Bosnian Court urged INTERPOL to issue a <x0 Red recognition “for Dodik and the chairman of the Republika Srpska Parliament, Nenad Stevsa, who allegedly carried out the criminal work of “attacks on Bosnia and Herzegovina's constitutional order”.
The decision was made after Dodik and Stevha persecuted left Bosnia, avoiding specific procedures by border control law at the time a central arrest sheet was issued to them, implying that each police agency should send it to the tribunal in Bosnia. /N1/ REL/Periscopi/
