The following graph shows the value of the dollar against a basket of other major coins. It points to a major decline in the last few days, today falling to 99.5, the lowest point for about three years.
Economists attribute this to markets that lose confidence in dollar as standard currency in the world, report BBC, broadcast Periscope.
George Saravelos at Deutsche Bank said: “We argued yesterday night that despite change of tariffs from President Trump, the damage of USSD is done, external. The market is re-evaluating the structural authenticity of the dollar as a global reserve currency in the world and is going through a fast, external de-dollar process.
“Nowhere is this more evident than continued and combined collapse in the American currency and bond market, as this week is closing”. /Periscope/
