“Ambassador Brink has been ambassador to the embassy in Ukraine for three years during a time of war for those three years, an extraordinary performance there, and we wish her well”, follows. Periscope.
Earlier, Reuters news agency reported that Brink was intent on resigning at its request and leaving diplomatic service in the coming weeks. CBS reported that Bink resigned in January during the change of administrations, but US Secretary of State Marco Rubio initially rejected it, hoping to keep it at the helm of the US diplomatic mission in Kiev.
The post of head of the US diplomatic mission in Kiev had remained vacant since May 2019, when former Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch withdrew to Washington at the request of President Donald Trump, who accused him of treason. Prior to Brink's appointment, Christina Kvien was in charge of the United States in Ukraine.
