American President Donald Trump is preparing a historic budget for the United States Army. Trump and his Secretary of Defence, Pete Hegseth, announced their intention to propose the first $1 trillion military budget in US history.
During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said the future budget would be “a nearly $1 trillion “, stressing that “ne should build our army, because there are many dark forces there outside”.
For his part, Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, in a post in RX, confirmed these plans Monday evening, writing: “S: the first trillion dollar defence department budget. We'll use every taxpayers' dollar wisely”.
The Trump-Hegseth proposal represents a drastic increase in this year's budget of $892 billion, which covered not only the Pentagon but also the development of nuclear weapons and security programmes at other federal agencies.
Trump may not have specified whether the amount of a trillion dollars is exclusively related to the Pentagon or the overall national defence budget (which includes other services), but the predictions are that total defence expenditures exceed $900 billion in the new budget. His statement, however, confirmed the goal of a historic increase.
“No one has ever seen anything like this before”, Trump said, adding that “We are careful at cost, but the army is something we need to rebuild. We must be strong. ”/Periscopi/
