Actor Van Damme message Putin: I want to visit Russia as peace ambassador

The renowned Belgian actor, the legend of action films, Jean-Claude Van Damme, has expressed the desire to visit Russia as “ador of peace”. In a video posted on Telegram by a Ukrainian journalist, pro-rus, the 64-year-old addresses President Vladimir Putin directly, saying it would be the honoured “” to take such a role. [...]
We want to come to Russia. We'll try to do it as you want, as peace ambassador,” declared the known actor, Periscope.
This would not be the first time Van Damme visited Russia. In 2010, he was in Sochi for a martial arts event where he was photographed in VIP seats near President Putin. Both share a shared passion for martial sports, the Russian president is a master of the jungle, while Van Damme has built a career on his karate and kickboxing skills.
In his video, Van Damme avoids any political comment on war in Ukraine or tensions between Russia and the West, promising to speak “only for peace, sports and happiness”, before closing the message with a “big bid for Putin”.
Unlike most public figures in the West, who have distanced themselves from Vladimir Putin after the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, some celebrities still show support for the Kremlin leader. The most familiar of them is American actor Steven Seagal, Putin's close friend. Seagal serves as Russia's special representative for humanitarian ties with the US and is a regular figure in Moscow's official events.
