The EURO show inT7 has discussed the Regulatory Office's proposal to raise the electricity price for 15%.
ZERE Board Chairman Ymer Feyzullahu has argued the proposal, saying this increase has taken place 100% based on global inflation.
According to him, even though we have had energy price increases in the last three years, Kosovo still remains at the bottom of the list of countries with the cheapest price of electricity.
Feyzulu points out that the price increase is necessary to cover import costs, which either the consumer pays or are subsidised by the government.
“If a consumer has paid about 50 euros for the spent energy so far, after the increase of tariffs it will pay around 58 euros, so minimally 8 euros more. While businesses will pay additional tariffs”, Fyzullahu has said.
On the other hand, the civic initiative “has been commented on, not a cent more”, which the head of the ERE has said understands the concern of citizens, but the reflection on the tariff has been necessary.
If we have protests and civic disobedience, there will be reductions, because no suppliers can cover these costs. There's no alternative but to tax reflection. For those citizens who cannot afford the bill, they must apply for subvention to the Ministry of Finance”, Fyzullahu stated.. /Periscopi/
