The EURO show inT7 has discussed the Regulatory Office's proposal to raise the electricity price for 15%.
ZERE Board Chairman Ymer Feyzullahu has argued their proposal, saying this increase is based 100% on inflation that has occurred not only in Kosovo, but worldwide.
Feyzullahu says it is very difficult at this time to be at the helm of the ZERE Board, especially when it comes to tariffs.
According to him, the company's demand for electricity supply was for the price to increase by 35%, but after consultations it was proposed that the price go up by 15%.
It explains why consumers must pay 15% more for energy spent on April 1st.
“Local power generation capacity has remained unchanged, as has the price left for consumers with universal rights since 2010, even though we have had inflation annually, especially in the last two years. The price of energy produced in Kosovo is 30 euros, while it imported 150 euros. This difference forces us either to reflect and cover costs, or to have electricity reductions. Between the two, we considered that it is better to import energy than to have reduction”, Fyzullahu stated.
By March 28th, citizens and interest parties can submit comments to Z RREE on the proposal to raise electricity tariffs./Periscopi/
